And if God only accepts like that, he’ll never accept it other way.
Jesus reprehended the Pharisees for giving more value to the offers that to the altar. Matt: 23.
19- [Ye] fools and blind: for whether [is] greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
Paul confirms in 1st Cor 9:
13- Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live [of the things] of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
14- Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. (Living is not taking advantage).
Jesus, when He sent house by house his ambulant church, the 12 apostles and the 70 disciples (that would be us till now), had the care of alerting us, to not take gold or silver in your belts, or bags (to put money), or knapsack (for food) and what you received for free, for free you give it. Eat what you’ve been offered, in other words, the same way you came in the houses |
they had to leave, without taking anything from anyone so the gospel won’t be shocked.
They had nothing to give, only what Jesus told them to give, like the case of John and Peter, at the door of the temple, who said:
I don’t have silver or gold, but what I have, I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, walk! (Cured the paralytic).
But now they are selling everything they got for free, they are putting a price in what costed blood.
And the tithe, it was only for the people of Israel, the inheritance of the disinherited Levites and of the widow, the orphan and the poor foreigner, that was the law.
In the Institution of the 7 Deacons, was for them to help the poor widows; like the Levites, who also cared of the temple and in the lack of the priest, many times they took over like Philip, the evangelist and Esteban.
What a difference of today’s Christians who apply the tithe to the gentile people. And even take from the poor who were supposed to benefit in the law. |
