by the resurrection of Jesus Christ (like reborn).
Paul shows us well other similar fact, ones were baptized and others not. In 1st Cor 10:
1- Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2- And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; (Who were the sunken?).
3- And did all eat the same spiritual meat; (symbolizing supper)
In this two texts, in Greek, Peter and Paul show us that Noah´s family, Moses and the nation were baptized in the cloud and in the sea. In this two passages it wasn´t the sunken that were baptized.
If baptism was sinking, Peter and Paul would never use these texts to compare baptism.
Paul alerts us in this text that, |
during the 40 years in the desert (our whole life), many of the people perished, by disobedience, despite of being baptized. It isn´t only to baptize that saves you; baptism is only one, is the beginning, is the 1st step of a great walk; Now the supper is the continuity. As we acquire knowledge of the Bible, we have to repent of what we discovered we are missing.
Is the obedience of the word (Bible) that cleans us, as Jesus says to his disciples at the lavatory, in John 15:
3- Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
And Jesus links the baptism to beginning, supper, to continuity and the permanence in Christianism, in John. 2-
At the Weddings at Canaan of Galilee, transforming the water in the vases that the Jews used for purification, in wine, and later in the supper, the wine that symbolizes his blood. |
